Answer» Solution :(a) What is Battery ? : Any battery or cell that we use as a source for electrical ENERGY is basically a galvanic cell where the chemical energy of the redox reaction is converted into electrical energy. (b) Characteristic of battery : It should be reasonably light, compact and its voltage should not vary APPRECIABLY during its use. (C) Types of battery: There are mainly two types of batteries : (i) primary battery and (ii) secondary battery. (d) EXAMPLES : Dry cell, lead storage cell, Ni-Cd storage cell, hydrogen fuel etc. are wel-known batteries. |
