Answer» Solution :(i) Phenol gives a violet COLOURED complex with aqueous `FeCl_(3)` while benzyl alcohol does not. (ii) Butan -2- OL `(CH_(3)-UNDERSET(OH)underset("|")"CH"CH_(2)CH_(3))` gives Iodoform TEST (yellow ppt.) with `I_(2)` and `NaOH` whereas `"2 - methylpropan -2- ol, "CH_(3)-overset(OH)overset("|")underset(CH_(3))underset("|")"C "-CH_(3)`, does not. |
