The f-block elements are categorized in two series on the basis of electrons that get filled in f-orbitals: (i) Lanthanoide series `[""_(58)Ce " to " ""_(71)Lu]`: These elements have similar physical and chemical properties as of Lanthanum. Hence, these elements are called lanthanoids. It is called 4f series (i) Actinoide series `[""_(90)Th " to" ""_(103)Lr]`: These elements have similar physical and chemical properties as of actinoid.
