Give reasons for the following observations: NH_3 gas adsorbs more readily than N_2 gas on the surface of charcoal.

Answer»

Solution :The amount of GAS adsorbed by a solid DEPENDS upon the nature of the gas. EASILY liquefiable gases are more easily adsorbed. As `NH_3` gas is more liquefiable (it has a higher BOILING point) compared to `N_2`, it is more readily adsorbed.
