SOLUTION :(i)Manganese canform `p pi - d pi` bond with oxygen by utilizing 2p orbital of oxygen and 3d orbital of Mn . Hence, it can show HIGHEST oxidation state of `+7`. With FLUORINE, Mn cannote FORM such `p pi - d pi` bond. Hence, with fluorine it can show a MAXIMUM oxidaion state of `+4` .
