Solution :For osazone formation , PRESENCE of `OHC-CHOH-` or `CH_(2)OH-CO-` group is REQUIRED. Since ribose contain `OHC-CHOH-` group but 2-deoxyribose contains neither of the above TWO groupings, therefore , ribose forms osazone but 2-deoxyribose does not.
