hat is a displacement reaction ? What happens when aluminium is dipped in copper sulphatesolution? |
|
Answer» Displacement reaction is a chemical reaction in which a more reactive element displaces a less reactive element from its compound. Both metals and non-metals take part in displacement reactions. Example : Reaction of iron nails with copper sulphate solution. Aluminium displaces the copper from its salt solution to form Aluminium Sulphate. The colour of the solution will change from blue to transparent and copper will be observed as a layer on the Aluminium piece. CuSO4 + Al------) Al2(SO4)3 + Cu |
