Answer» SOLUTION :Benzonitrile REACTS with phenyl magnesium bromide in presence of dry ether to give an imine complex which on acid hydrolysis GIVES a benzophenone. During reaction benzonitrile and phenyl magnesium bromide should be TAKEN in equimolecular proportion.
