In such plants is not a very efficient method. in such plants, the chemical energy (heat of combustion) of fossil fuels (coal, gas or oil) is first used for converting water into high pressure steam. this is then used to run a turbine to produce electricity. So by this way wastage of energy is OCCURRED and hence efficiency of such plant is less. * Thermal power station is a major source of pollution as in this, combustion of FUEL is carried out. so, pollution is occurred in OBTAINING electricity by thermal power plants. and such plant has working efficiency of almost 40%. |
