How will you account for the high, solubility of alcohol in water?

Answer»

Solution :The first three members are completely soluble in water. From butyl alcohol to onwards, the SOLUBILITY decreases. ALCOHOLS with CHAIN of 10 - CARBON atoms are slightly soluble in water. Alcohols are soluble in water due to polar -OH group. The solubility of alcohols decreases with INCREASE of size of alkyl group
