Answer» SOLUTION :(i) Oxygen atom has small size. It can form multiple bonds and exists as `O_2`molecule. `O_2`molecules are HELD together by weak van der Waals. forces of attraction. ` THEREFORE ` it has low b.pt. and is GAS at ROOM temperature. S atom has large size, it forms single bonds and exists as `S_8`molecules. In these `S_8`molecules the magnitude of van der Waals. forces of attraction is large . it has high m.pt. and is solid at room temperature.
