If 2x^4+ 2y^4+ 2z^4= 144, what is the mean of x^4, y^4 and z^4?

Answer»

2 {x}^{4}  + 2 {y}^{4}  + 2 {z}^{4}  = 144

2( {x}^{4}  +  {y}^{4}  +  {z}^{4} ) = 144

{x}^{4} +  {y}^{4}  +  {z}^{4}  = 72

To EVALUATE it's MEAN, we divide both SIDES by the TOTAL number of terms,

\dfrac{ {x}^{4}  +  {y}^{4}  +  {z}^{4} }{3}  =  \dfrac{72}{3}

\dfrac{ {x}^{4}  +  {y}^{4}  +  {z}^{4} }{3} = 24
