1.

If the sides of the first rectangle are in the ratio 4: 3 and those of the second rectangle are in the ratio 2: 1,which rectangle is longer?slove and explain.......

Answer»

Let the ratio of FIRST rectangle is 4x : 3x
Length is 4x
Breadth is 3x
Perimeter is 84 cm
2(l+b) = 84
2(4x+3x) = 84
7x = 42
x = 6
Length is 4x = 24 cm
Breadth is 3x = 18 cm

Ratio of second rectangle is 2X : 1x
Length is 2x
Breadth is 1x
Perimeter is 84 cm
2(l+b) = 84
3x = 42
x = 14 cm
Length is 2x = 28 cm
Breadth is 1x = 14 cm

Second rectangle is 4cm longer than first rectangle
