If we subtract 22 from three times a number, we get 68. Find the number.

Let the number be x

Then three times the number = 3x

On subtracting 22

⇒ 3x – 22

By problem, 3x – 22 = 68

3x = 68 + 22 (transposing -22)

3x = 90

x = 90/3 (transposing x 3)

x = 30

∴ The required number 30
