1.

In a single throw of three dice, find the probability of getting a total of 17 or 18

Answer»

Given: three dices are thrown

Formula: P(E) = \(\frac{favourable \ outcomes}{total \ possible \ outcomes}\)

Total number of possible outcomes are 63=216

Therefore n(S)=216

Let E be the event of getting total of 17 or 18

E= {(6,6,5) (6,5,6) (5,6,6) (6,6,6)}

n(E)=4

P(E) = \(\frac{n(E)}{n(S)}\)

P(E) = \(\frac{4}{216}\) = \(\frac{1}{54}\)
