In what way is the electronic configuration of the transition elements different from that of the non-transition elements?

Answer»

Solution :The GENERAL ELECTRONIC CONFIGURATION of transition elements is `(n-1) d^(1-10) ns^(1-2)` while for non-transition elements is `ns^(1-2)` for s-block and `ns^(2) np^(1-6)` for p-block elements. The basic DIFFERENCE of the electronic configuration is that in case of transition element PENULTIMATE shell i.e., (n-1)d shell is successively filled while in non-transition elements the valance shells are successively filled.
