Iodine forms I3- but F2 does not form F3- ions .why?

1.	Iodine forms I3- but F2 does not form F3- ions .why?
Answer» Due to the presence of vacantd-orbitals,I₂ accepts electrons from I^-ions to form I^3- ions,butbecause of absence of d-orbitals F₂ does not accept electrons from Fions to form F^3-ions.
