A Sprint can be cancelled before the Sprint time-box is accomplished. The Product Owner has the authority to cancel the Sprint, and the product owner may do so after consultations with the stakeholders, the Development Team, or the Scrum MASTER. 

Following are the reasons that a Product owner Might Cancel a Sprint: 

  1. A better technical solution is observed that makes the current technical solution outdated. 
  2. A major change in TECHNOLOGY. 
  3. MARKET forces the current work as obsolete. 
  4. Primary and critical external CHANGES refute the Sprint Goal or the Product Goal
