Law of subtraction of integers

Answer»

Law of subtraction of INTEGERS

  • While subtracting integers we take care of the SIGNS of both the integers which are being subtracted

  • If both the number are negative, the answer will be dependent on the SIGN of second integer that is being subtracted from the first because its sign will be multiplied by "-". Such as

       -2-(-4)= -2+4 = 2 ( answer has the sign of greatest integer)

       -2-(-1) = -2+1 = -1

  • If both the number are positive, then the sign of the greatest integer will be FOLLOWED. Such as

       2-(+4) = 2-4 = -2

       2- (+1) = 2-1 = 1
