Answer» During proliferative phase. The follicles start growing in size under the influence of Follicle stimulating Horsome (FSH). Hence, this phase is also called follicular phase. During secreatory phase, corpus luteum secreates progesterone that helps to thicken the endometrial lining. Due to the persistance of corpus luteum, this phase is also called luteal phase. Menstruation or bleeding occurs due to the breakdown of endometrial lining in the absence of gregnancy. During this phase, corpus luteum regresses and progesterone level decreases. |
