It has been an age long belief in India that men are by nature superior to women and this belief has its roots so deep in our society that even if a woman proves her superiority, men are reluctant to accept it. This very tendency is being reflected in the non-acceptance of an obvious defeat. Men think themselves to be superior to women and do not like to accept their defeat. In this way, the writer discloses the feeling of superiority present among men in Indian society and tells that they consider women second-grade creatures.

राजकुमारी सीटी बजाने में माहिर थी। सीटी बजाने की स्पर्धा में उसने प्रणयार्थियों की भीड़ को परास्त कर दिया। जब उसने उनसे पूछा कि क्या उन्हें उचित प्रकार से हरा दिया गया है तो अधिकांश ने कहा कि ‘नहीं’। उन्होंने अपनी हार को किसी जादू या चतुराई के माथे मढ़ा। भारत में यह युगों पुराना विश्वास रहा है। कि पुरुष स्वाभाविक रूप से ही महिलाओं से श्रेष्ठ होते हैं और इस विश्वास की जड़े समाज में इतनी गहरी हैं। कि भले ही कोई महिला अपनी श्रेष्ठता सिद्ध कर दे तो भी हम स्वीकार नहीं करते हैं। इस स्पष्ट हार की अस्वीकृति में यही प्रवृत्ति प्रतिबिम्बित हो रही है। पुरुष अपने आप को महिलाओं से श्रेष्ठ मानते हैं और हार को स्वीकार नहीं करते हैं। इस प्रकार लेखिका भारतीय समाज में पुरुषों के मध्य व्याप्त श्रेष्ठता की भावना को प्रकट करती है और बताती है कि वे महिलाओं को दूसरे दर्जे का प्राणी समझते हैं।
