It is one of the most prestigious contemporary art awards in the world.It is awarded for those artists who show the same spirit of exploration, innovation, commitment and freedom which characterizes the life and work of Spanish painter and sculptor, Joan Miro.Nalini Malani was awarded for her work that gave a voice to "the silenced and the dispossessed all over the world, most particularly women". She was awarded with €70,000 (Rs 54.5 lakh) and production cost of an exhibition work to be held in Barcelona, Spain in 2020 will be covered by them.
