Answer» <p>MADURAI: House break-in incidents continue to take place in Tallakulam and Koodalpudur police limits, despite police taking various measures to prevent the crime.</p><p>In a recent incident, gold jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh were looted from two houses in the Tallakulam police limit. In the same police limited, silver articles worth thousands were looted from another house.</p><p>Burglars broke into a locked house in GR Nagar in K Pudur and decamped with gold jewellery worth Rs 7 lakh. The incident took place while the family was away in Bengaluru. A neighbour noticed the open doors and alerted the house owner.</p><p>Based on a complaint from the house owner, D Pushpam, 68, a case was registered with Tallakulam police station. Police sources said that Pushpam’s son is being treated in a Bengaluru hospital. They had shifted to the city last month to take care of him. She was alerted by her neighbour on Sunday. On information, she returned to the city and checked the house. Gold jewellery weighing 36 sovereigns were missing.</p><p>The burglars had also broken into the house next door and looted gold jewellery worth Rs 3 lakh. S Ragunathan, 38, had gone to his native place a week back and returned on Tuesday. He is a manager of a software company in the city. In his complaint, he had stated that miscreants broke into the house through the front door and escaped with gold jewellery weighing 14 sovereigns.</p><p>Similar incident was reported from Surveyor colony, located next to K Pudur, where a few silver articles worth a few thousands were looted. Based on a complaint from the house owner, G Karl Marx, a case was registered with Tallakulam police station. He had gone away from the house on Sunday evening and returned on Monday evening.</p> | |
