Answer» Let the total no. of moles be 1 now, mole fraction of ethanol is 0.04 , so no. of moles of ethanol is 0.04/1 = 0.04 so, moles of water will be 1-0.04 = 0.96 moles so, mass of water will be 0.96*18 = 17.28gm and since the density of water is (1gm/ml) so, volume of water (solvent will be ) = 17.28/1 = 17.28ml so, the molarity = moles of ethanol/(volume of solution) = 0.04*1000/17.28 = 2.26M |
