1.

P(x)=x square+x-1 find the zeroes of the polynomial

Answer»

Solution:

Given,

→ x² + X - 1 = 0

We have to find out the ZEROS of the given equation.

Comparing with ax² + bx + c = 0, we get,

→ a = 1, B = 1, c = -1

So,

→ Discriminant (D) = b² - 4ac

→ D = 1² - 4 × 1 × (-1)

→ D = 1 + 4

→ D = 5

So,

→ x = (-b ± √D)/2a

→ x = (-1 ± √5)/2

Therefore,

→ x = (-1 + √5)/2 and (-1 -√5)/2

Answer:

  • x = (-1 + √5)/2 and (-1 -√5)/2
