Pour your thoughts on how do you see India becoming a superpower by 2050 |
|
Answer» It depends on what you have in mind as regards the definition of a superpower. India is delicately balanced or sandwiched between the SAARC nations and any aspirations as regards super power status and flexing our industrial or military muscle would send tremors to the nations that surround us and we would be inviting China, Pakistan and the US to meddle or intervene. Yes, India could achieve economic superpower status by crafting a growth that’s inclusive, which achieves near full employment; is able to frame an educational template where graduates are able to respond swiftly to changes in technologies and one where we might face the spectre of jobless growth. Jobless growth occurs when firms replace human interventions with robots, and this produces the kind of growth that’s good for firms per sé, but which results in unemployment. In the long run, we need to temper our population growth and bring it in line with the technologies of the day. No easy task there, but it has to be done. |
