Compared to other means of transport, rail transport is cheap, quick, speedy, easy, far-reaching and convenient. Railways are also used during wars or natural calamities for the transportation of goods and people. Over and above this the railways have also started metro rail in many cities. Mumbai also has local trains and mono rials which save a lot of time, money and energy of people. Therefore, railways are the lifeline of India.
