Answer» <p>Ans :- </p><p>Rain water harvesting is the need of the hour and the only way available with us to sustain life on our planet earth.</p><p>This situation has not come up suddenly but is a result of:</p><p>1. Increase in water demand due to increase in population.</p><p>2. Increase in water demand due to increase in Infrastructure development.</p><p>3. Increase in water demand due to increase in Industries.</p><p>To fulfill the increased demand, we increased the water withdrawal recklessly and made negligible effort to recharge the ground water aquifers and this has led to gradual depletion of ground water level.</p><p>It is like, if we deposit less money in bank each month and withdraw more each month – sooner or later our bank balance will come to zero level.</p><p>There is also a lot of talk about Water Conservation to combat issue of water shortage but this has little meaning till it is notclubbed with Rain water harvestingeffort since no one can ever increase his Bank Balance by withdrawing less money. The Bank balance will only increase if he Deposits more than his withdrawal.</p>
