Solve : 2nd drive booting slow access?

Answer»

I have two hard drives installed in my machine. The 1st contains all OS files and the 2nd has all user files, music, videos and so on.

The issue I am having is a minor one but it gets ANNOYING. When I'm using my computer and say I want to browse to user file hard drive the drive takes a few seconds to boot up whilst the machine has already been running for a while. So when I want to go to a music file it takes time opening and then I can hear the 2nd hard drive BOOTING up and then it WORKS. After this it works fine and I can access these files easily. But say if I don't access the 2nd drive in a while then when I do need to re-access it seems as if it's shut down and then it boots up again, then allowing me to get the files.

Any suggestions tweaks I can make to keep the 2nd drive active.
ThanksFirst we will need to know which operating system you are running, then we will be able to provide you with instructions to disable power management for your drives.Open Power Options in Control Panel and check the SETTINGS for your hd's. It's possible you have the drive set to power down after a period of inactivity (which isn't a BAD idea, by the way).
