Answer» i got a hard drive from a old COMP and wanted to add it to my good one.how would i go about doing this?i have tried multiple times (just pluging it in as a slave) and it wont work.so how would i do this any help is NICE
ps.i CANT check this till sometime tommorrow...Does your pc recognize the drive at all? If not, try running the Add Hardware wizard from the control panel. Also try using the 'Cable select' option on the harddrive (as you did with the slave option). Just make sure that the harddrives are hooked up the way you want them to boot. Tell me how it goes.

how do i do that?There are jumpers next to the POWER plug that determine whether it is a master, slave, etc...check the drives website for instructions.

What kind of machine, and what kind of hard drives?its a custom pc and its running xp as to the hd idk (i bought this comp eventhough its a custom) but the 2nd one is from a old compaq.. i am getting a new video card l8ter today and i would like to install the hd at the same time. also another SMALL question my friend said that u may be able to convert half of the hd memory to ram is this possible?and if it is will it make my comp faster?

Hard drive is storage and RAM is memory. Windows uses hard drive space for swap purposes sometimes, a sort of virtual memory, but you will not find much joy pursuing this idea.
