Solve : 2TB Partition limit with RAID?

Answer»

I have 4x1TB Western digital green caviar drives. I've connected them in up RAID 0 but whenever i get the a INSTALLATION page with Windows XP pro where i choose my partitions only around 2TB shows up, any ideas? Each drive registers on the RAID setup in BIOS and is 'Healthy'.You're running up against the maximum NTFS partition size, which is 2TB. Raid or otherwise. NTFS in theory has an upper limit of 16 exabytes (16 million TB), but Windows (all versions) limits the partition tables to 2^32 sectors (with 512B sectors, that's 2 TB).

However, read here (at your own RISK!)

eh,

just out of curiosity, what on earth do you more than 2,000 Gigabytes for? You COULD put the LIBRARY of Congress on it, back it up 6 times, and still have Tons of room leftoverQuote from: foggs on February 05, 2009, 09:08:05 AM

An even better question would be why we all need more then 640K of RAM. 640K should be enough for EVERYBODY.
