Answer» I have an HP pavilion xt948 computer in which I installed a new (old one was no good) 3.5" drive.
However, I am getting the following messages when I insert a 3.5" diskette that has information already on it.
(1) DISK NOT FORMATTED The disk in drive A is not formatted. Do you want to format it now? (two boxes) YES/NO
If I click NO, nothing more happens.
If I click YES:
(2) FORMAT 3.5" FLOPPY (A) There is no disk in drive A. Insert disk, and then TRY again (one box) OK
When you click OK,
(3) DISK NOT FORMATTED The disk in drive A cannot be formatted (one box) OK
I was CAREFUL to be SURE I inserted the wires exactly as I had taken them out of the other drive.
Suggestions? I have rebooted the computer several times. Sounds like a bad disk.Try another!
