Solve : 3.5 floppy noise and format problems?

My floppy has started a louder chatter than normal. It almost always gives the message, "The disk in drive A is not formatted. Do you WANT to FORMAT it now?"

When I select yes, I receive one of the following messages, "WINDOWS was UNABLE to complete the format" or "Windows cannot format this drive. Quit any disk utilities or other programs that are using this drive, and make sure that no window is displaying the contents of the drive. Then try formatting again."

I think the stepper MOTOR or worm screw is shot. Can anyone corrobotate this for me? Quote

Most likely.
At about ten bucks a piece i would highly recommend replacing it.
