Solve : 300W Power Supply enough??

Answer»

Hello, I've been thinking of buying a NEW video card for my computer.
The video card I have now is GeForce Ti 4200 and the new will be GeForce 7950GT.

So I was wondering if my Power Supply which is 300W is enough?

I have:
Pentium 4 3,06 Ghz
1,5 RAM
75 GB HDD
DVD burner
3.5 floppy

Thanks in advance. What does the card manufacturer say about system requirements? If they don't specify a power supply greater than 300W, I'd say you'll be OK. If you'd like to get an actual Wattage number on your system with that new card installed, visit http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp and enter the appropriate selections for your system. Thanks, but still too complicated for me.
Is there any software that count this by itself?
I mean, count how much my power supply use? Quote from: dvcorleone on December 12, 2007, 10:31:48 AM

Why? Did you actually visit the site and try it? By the way, I just discovered a mistake in the URL I had posted; I just now corrected it.

I don't think so.http://www.journeysystems.com/power_supply_calculator_popup.phpOK.

I used http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp and my usage were under 300W WITHOUT the last option: Capacitor Aging, which I don't know what it is.
If I set Capacitor Aging 50% I get way over 300W.

So, what is Capacitor Aging? Power supplies used heavily or for a long TIME tend to lose a bit of their wattage over time. Read the footnotes at the bottom of the page, it explains it all there.
