Answer» An employee from The Geek Squad told me that if I didn't have ( 64 bit? ) XP that having 4 gig ram is useless because the computer won't even use it. Is this true??
Thanks for your input (no pun intended) GETTING 32-bit Windows to recognize anything beyond 2GB of installed RAM is a seemingly futile effort. Even if your hardware supports the possibility, the software may hold you back - and performance GAINS are questionable.
Bottom line: if you have 4GB of RAM in your system (or more), and you want to take full advantage of it, start using a 64-bit OS.
Yes, I have had the same problem, only my system WinXp 32BIT HOME would recognize 3.3Gig of RAM. I listed below some information you may or may not have seen at Microsoft explaining this...
Good LUCK,

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/55522332-bit, depending on a system, will recognize 3-3.5GBi have 4gb and it recognizes 3.25gb's. i have contemplated going 64bit, but i dont think its worth the headache, as i have heard not a whole lot of programs work in a 64bit OS.
