I was just wondering, for a 4 meg connection are these speeds right. Or is it somthing you would see on a 2 meg.

Is this DSL or cable? If DSL, how far are you from the nearest telephone company hub (often called "central office"). DSL technology is "distance sensitive" because its performance decreases significantly as you get further away from this hub.

The actual speeds you mentioned would be very good for a DSL service rated at 2 Megs but POSSIBLE, I believe. On the hand, those speeds would be rather low for a DSL service rated at 4 Megs, but could result from the distance between you and the nearest telephone company hub. This is for 4 meg cable that i have just upgraded to. So are these speeds for poor for 4 meg cable.Yes they are poor for 4 meg cable, it looks LIKE 2 meg to me.

id get on to the cable companyYou might visit DSLReports.com and run a speed test and a tweaks test. If you register on the site (not required to run the tests) and are logged on when you run tests, you can save the results of your tests and then see the results of others' tests. May give you an idea whether your service is on par with others or not.

In some cases, tweaks to your system can help. That's why I mentioned the tweaks test.Who is your ISP? Have you contacted them with your findings?LOL NTL who now tell me they sold me 4 meg but really my line is a 2 meg. They say i should have 4 meg by the end of the MONTH. Crazy to sell somthing that isnt up and running. Can you Guys tell me what my download and upload should be once i have 4 meg, just so i can keep an eye on it. Also do you KNOW of any goos websites that let you do a free speed test.
