Solve : 486DX2-66 MOTHERBOARD MANUALS?

Answer»

hello. i just got a clone 486 pc and have decided to upgrade the board. however I have no manual to reference the jumper settings. there is no manufacture info or numbers on this board. can anyone point me in the right direction or offer solid advise? cheers.Hi
Perhaps post a PICTURE of the motherboard. Most boards of that vintage had legends somewhere on the board as to jumpers they may not be next to the jumpers them self, but where there is clear space.
Also with an image you can use "search GOOGLE for image" to get a MODEL and manufactureHi thanks for the response. unfortunately there is no markings of any type that shows a legend or manufacture. oh the pains of vintage gear. thanks any way. cheers.
Have you looked on the bottom of the board ? ?
Is there an FCC #...those are searchable on google. Quote from: Damage Inc on October 09, 2020, 07:38:11 PM

hello. i just got a clone 486 pc and have decided to upgrade the board.

So what are you going to upgrade ? If the board works just put as much memory in as it will take. Look for a Disk on module or IDE to Compact flash adapter to help improve loading speed.
If you upgrade the processor unless it is a 486SX 33 to a 486 dx2/66 will have LITTLE effect.

Where is the picture? Some here may remember the board or can advise if there is any upgrade possible.
Often the really cheap 486 motherboards had no 2nd cache, CPU's soldered on the board no sockets. So were not upgradable. And without  secondary cache were dogs and not worth doing anything with.
