Solve : 4870x2?

Answer»

should i wait for this to come out before i go AHEAD and buy a single 4870 and crossfire it later? according to benchmarks they look almost the same but they are early drivers for the 4870x2 i dont know! the 4870x2 may be a bit too much for me do you think there will be price drops on the 4870 when the x2 comes out???If you buy the 4870X2 you will be able to add a second one later on. If you buy the regular 4870 now, the maximum you will ever have is a 4870 x2, unless you have three PCI-e X16 slots, but then the PERFORMANCE of a 4870 x3 setup is not much better than that of a 4870 x2, because of driver support.

I say either get two 4850's now, or a single 4870X2 if you want to have Quad-Crossfire, as in 4870X2.. x2.

Just remember that with a Radeon card, you will not be able to play Crysis nearly as well as on any of the scalar-based Geforce cards. That is their only weakness.Wow a lot has changed since I left... Track's back!
Anyways...
About the price drop, absolutely. It would help if I knew how much graphics matter to you... I still have my 7600GS, and I've NEVER used it to it's full potential. And then the 4870 makes an 8800GTX look LIKE whole lot of nothing... Anyways...

Umm, I know this isn't my thread, but what the heck is this whole Scalar-based stuff? I know that the S in SLI means scalar, (scalable link interface), but what does that have to do with performance?
