Solve : 50pin SCSI to 68pin SCSI adaption? |
|
Answer» My brother was given a UNISYS OpenSystems 4163sx computer with 3.5 and 5 1/4 floppy drives and a 50pin SCSI FUJITSU M2622SA 330Mb HDD. He wants to install a Western Digital WDE 2170 (2.1Gb) ULTRA fast Wide SCSI-3 Interface HDD. What is the recommended action. 1. OBTAIN an adapter (SCSI 50pin to SCSI 68pin) {if such a thing exists} 2. install an ISA SCSI 68pin expansion card. He needs to fit the larger capacity SCSI HDD so that he can replace the 5 1/4 FDD with a CD/DVD, to then install a small version (Ubuntu / Puppy / DamSmall) of Linux. 3. is it even possible for this computer to have a CD/DVD installed. He currently has an IDE HDD fitted but the internal space is so cramped that the IDE cable will not fit a CD/DVD and a HDD at same time. Thank you Since data is involved i'd choose an addon card... As far as space inside the machine there's no way to see it from here...Well as Sods law applys I have been Web browsing for a solution since he was given the computer with no success. But 20 minutes or so after My original help request I found this http://www.computercablesource.com/scsi-adapter-hd-68-male-to-idc-50-male-internal-se-968.html Which looks like it is exactly what we need Thank you all for your time |
