What brand of fax modem whould you SUGEST for reliability?

I WOULD suggest whatever you can find cheap... Personally, I use my printer which has a fax built-in. It's not a complicated hardware... anything will do.The best would be an external SERIAL port modem in my book, but it lives outside the computer. Cost is about $75:

Next would be a hardware controlled PCI modem like the US Robotics 56K Performance Pro, but it runs about $75.

Usable would be any Winmodem which use some of your PROCESSOR power, but usually works OK and are in the $10-15 range. Available everywhere. Cheap and usually work OK.
