Answer» Is ANYONE running 8gbs ram in Vista. Just wondering how its working and what type of Vista your using. Also what problems did you run into. what kind of processor mobo etc. Any help would be apreciated. Im running a abit I x 38 gt BOARD intel 6700 processor and wondering if it would help my system with vista and GAMING not worried about price. Any help would be apreciated. How you got the OS to use the ram etc.You have to have 64-bit system to use 8GB of RAM. 32-bit can handle 4GB only (practically, it uses only AROUND 3GB).I think anything over 4 gigs is a waste of money in your case. It will never get used. Correct me if I am wrong.Anything past 4Gb won't be noticeable in, say, games, or in terms of actual performance, IMHO (unless you run something like Crysis, edit videos, and also do something else at the same time). however, more RAM does increase the overall smoothness of your experience. If you have Vista X64 edition and you have the money to burn, there's no SPECIFIC reason not to max out the RAM, but equally there's not really compelling reason to do so. I have 4Gb on XP X64 and will soon be going to 6Gb, purely because I got a good deal on it. I don't expect to see much of a performance boost, but it will hopefully run a little smoother.
