Answer» Hi USB cable of some device like printer, scanner and etc has a gland in the end of the cable. You can not see this part in USB cable of other device, like CAMERA, mp3/4 player, external HDD/ODD, MOUSE, keyboard and.... What is the task of this part?
Thanks
[recovering disk space -- ATTACHMENT deleted by admin]The "gland" is a ferrite core introduced into the cable to reduce or ELIMINATE RFI; in other words, to reduce the chance that interference from operation of the USB device will interfere with the operation of a nearby device.
Technically it's called a RF Choke mad of ferrite or ferrite beads. Look here for good explanation. http://computer.howstuffworks.com/question352.htmIn other words, it is something to make people ask about it. like how you have those families housing their elderly members, and they never seem to move- thus everybody that VISITS asks the question. "Is he dead?" Actually i like "gland"...never heard it called that before...
