Solve : A good card to max out most games at 720p ultra?

Answer»

Im building a computer for my kid as its his birthday soon. The only actual problem i have is the graphics card. I don't know too MUCH about them. I picked out all the other parts fine but i don't know a good card that can max out 720p without going overkill. He has a 720p monitor but i don't want to end up getting a card that can max out 1440p or anything like that. He mostly WANTS to play far cry 4 and battlefield 3 and 4. right now he has an OLD pentium 4 dell optiplex 620. Anyways, thanks if you HELP me [/color]What sort of budget are we talking here, and what's the rest of the specs?http://pcpartpicker.com/p/9b3BYJ
and the budget for the card is around 200-300 at max.I would probably look at the GTX 960 or R9 280X for around $200, would be more than you need for that resolution but leaves you headroom without spending the earth.
I would also advise changing the board to an Asus or Gigabyte model as I wouldn't recommend an Asrock board, getting an SSD (Crucial or Samsung) at least as a boot drive as it'll help greatly with the percieved speed of the system, and either going for the non-K CPU (if you don't want to overclock) or a Z97 chipset board (if you do want to overclock) as the K CPU offers no benefit in a non-Z97 board.  If the K and non-K are the same price then disregard this though.I like the "percieved speed" reference......
