Solve : a problem, but where..?

Answer»

well, it all started one day when my computer suddenly restarted, LATER that day my computer showed this problem more often. And the next day the computer coudnt EVEN get into windows without restarting, and now it doesnt even give me a screen it only makes the sound as if it was running.
So my question is what could be the problem here?Did you scan your system for viruses, trojans and spyware before it could no longer load Windows?

Press F8 on STARTUP and choose the last known good configuration. Quote

how can it be a virus if i cant even boot anymore, i dont get a screen on booting, not a thing. But the fans are all working..Reset your BIOS by taking out the CMOS battery for 10 seconds and check if all the cables are connected properly. What hard drive have you got?I also have that same problem, I changed processors since my amd socket A 850 athlon was running hot. I installed a socket A 1.7 Duron/thermal paste. It came up but shortly after rebooted. It just continued to do so. I thought a possible conflict or bad hard drive. I disconnected both cdroms and hdd. No good. Didn't show hdd light on front panel or even do a BIOS beep. Reconnected hdd/cd's. Put in old 850, still no beep or hdd activity. Its a western digital 7200rpm 40 Gig hdd. Reset cmos with battery pull from mobo. NOPE. Its a Gigabyte GA-7IXEH mobo. 512 pc 133 ram. geforce 2mx, soundblaster live! value with lan card. Suggestions. bad mobo? bad powersupply? needs a hammer? Quote

Did you follow the instructions when adding the thermal paste?Yup I did. Also checked that the mobo would support that cpu. its a 1.3 duron, not a 1.7, i checked the numbers. I also pulled the cables on my hdd and cd's. no go. Pulled and reset all my cards, pulled my memory one at a time to see if it was a slot or memory stick, no go. I suspect my power SUPPLY, it is a 400 watt but its a cheapie and a couple years old. My experience reboots are most likely caused by heat problems or powersources. Any suggestions are welcome and if I get it fixed I'll post what I did.You did install a CPU fan, yes?

If you think your PSU may be failing, you should replace it.What operating system have you got?
