Solve : A public service? |
|
Answer» As some of the CH forum members know i have a penchant for buying used computers at garage sales(most often inoperative). I enjoy the challenge of trying to get them functional. My most RECENT acquisition is a DELL MODEL whl -xps (with more bells and whistles than Christmas tree).Given the incredible amount of dust in it's interior i never expected it to work.Got rid of all the dust and plugged it in.Works like a charm no problems what so ever. (what a SURPRISE). Now the "public service" even though there are 2 administrator accounts (no passwords were needed to gain access). Every kind of personal information imaginable is still on it including email addresses,1000's of i-Tunes songs, personal pictures and documents.Has a 200GB HD so plenty of room for tons of data, etc. If you are getting rid of a computer and particularly if you DO NOT know where it may end up --either remove the HD or at least use a very good HD data removal software to scrub it. With the prevalence of identity theft out there why tempt fate?truenorthA good reminder for everyone! Thank you!Quote from: truenorth on May 14, 2008, 05:47:19 PM As some of the CH forum members know i have a penchant for buying used computers at garage sales(most often inoperative).
