Solve a similar problem for three fermions.

Answer»

Solution :Of the three fermions, only two (with opposite spins) can OCCUPY the lowest energy levels. The third fermion must go over to the second level, and this will be the state with a minimum energy of the system. On the second level the length of a potential well holds two half-waves, i.e. `L=lamda`. The particle.s momentum TURNS out to be `p=h//lamda=h//L`, i.e. it is twice that of a particle occupying the first level. The corresponding increase in .force is FOUR times. For the RESULTANT we obtain
`F_(av)=(2h^(2))/(4mL^(3))+(4h^(2))/(4mL^(3))=(3H^(2))/(2mL^(3))`
