Answer» Greetings Everyone, I am new around here and I am in need of your advise.
I am trying to create a web page that updates weather information every time it is refreshed. The data is found at ftp://tgftp.nws.noaa.gov/data/observations/metar/decoded/KBOW.TXT it is the current weather report in a standard aviation format.
The link produces this output
Bartow Municipal, FL, United States (KBOW) 27-57N 081-47W Jun 02, 2007 - 04:50 PM EDT / 2007.06.02 2050 UTC Wind: from the WSW (240 degrees) at 29 MPH (25 KT) gusting to 39 MPH (34 KT):0 Visibility: 15 mile(s):0 Sky conditions: overcast Temperature: 78 F (26 C) Dew Point: 66 F (19 C) Relative Humidity: 65% Pressure (altimeter): 29.64 in. Hg (1003 hPa) ob: KBOW 022050Z 24025G34KT 15SM OVC027 26/19 A2964 LAST cycle: 21
The data is refreshed every hour but I will be darned if I can get it to refresh automatically on my page.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advanceClick hereThanks for your input CompGuy17, I have used that script on a different project. I may not have explained my need clearly enough, so let me try again.
I know where to get the data from and I can cut and paste into my page but I can not get it do so automatically on refresh. The graphics update correctly using this piece of CODE

Is there a similar script to gather a text file from a ftp server and display the contents?Ltapilot...
Depending on how savvy you are, when it comes to using dynamic content on your site, you might want to take a read:

The information provided at the above link is actually what (I think) you are trying to do.Save... Thanks for the link. Yes it is very close to what I am trying to do. Now I am wondering if my hosting ISP has PHP services ACTIVATED. There robot sent a very nice note telling me that I would have an answer in the next 24 hours. Once it is turned on, I bet I am good to go. If not back to learning new stuff. (Guess we never stop doing that but I had hoped to work on other things.) Thanks GuysYou're welcome...
It'd be nice to know how it turns out, so post back and let us know...okay?Hello everyone, Here is the code I CAME up with to SOLVE this problem.
It makes a frame, then populated that frame with data from the ftp site. Not very elegant but efficient.
Thanks for all of your help and time
