Answer» hi i could certainly use a little help.i have this school assignment WHEREBY i have to find out whether the CD drives and ZIP drives are the same in pentium 2 PCs and pentium 4 PCs.And basically i don't know much technical stuffs about computers.
thanks for helping me.most computers dont even come with a zip drive, but, P4's do have WAAAAAAAAAAAAY FASTER drives than P2's. i need to know the number on the zip drive, it says either 100 200 250, or somthin like that, usuuall "zip200" or "zip150" or somthinghmm,i just want to know if the cd and zip drives used in p2 computers are the same as those used in p4's. thanks though =DNope and obviously p4 is a better so it is not the same but might be the same in some kind of waysahhh i see, thanks so much...just wondering if its possible for you guys to give me examples of those drives that are used in the both p2 and p4. ? Eek.
I'm not sure where people get the idea that Zip drives and CD drives might need to be different in P2/P4 machines...
In simple terms, Zip drives, CD drives and DVD drives all use the same communication standard that has been in place from 386 days. In other words, the same hardware would (theoretically) work with 386, 486, Pentium, Pentium MMX, Pentium II, Pentium III, Pentium IV, not to mention Celeron, ATHLON, Old UNCLE Tom Cobbly and all processors.
The key factor is the motherboard, not the processor.
To be honest, it's a very silly homework question. That's the only reason I'm willing to help out a bit. Generally I prefer to let people do their own homework/research, grumpy old git that I am. They are the same. Period.

www.howstuffworks.com Quote They are the same. Period. Yes, but since I'm a qualified LAWYER, I couldn't possibly say that in just five words!
LOL. I forgot, Rob! Hahahaha...Thanks so much guys.Appreciate it sooooo much....
