Solve : Accidentally boughtgh an SCSI hard drive; only have IDE?

Answer»

Is there any way to fix this without taking it back? I really don't understand what SCSI means. Would all MOTHERBOARDS have this? A motherboard from 1995?fix what?

What problem are you having?Well, it hasn't arrived yet, but a friend told me that I can MIX the two, but now that I read further, I realized that you can't. I don't have any SCSI slots on my computer, so can I still use this Seagate Cheetah?Small Computer System Interface, or SCSI, REFERS to a type of interface standardized in the mid-1980's.  If you have the space, you could conceivably install a SCSI controller card in an empty expansion slot of the computer (if one is avilable).  You could then attach the drive the the SCSI card.  Other than that (unless there are adapters of which I am unaware) you'll have to EXCHANGE the drive for an IDE drive.Seagate Cheetahs are high performance SCSI drives intended for servers and other SYSTEMS where the high rotational speed and low seek time give the data throughput that such systems need. They have a very high price per gigabyte of storage. Such a drive is totally wasted in a standalone home user system, and especially if the system has not even got a SCSI interface. A mistake that needs reversing. Get it changed and swallow any restock fees, and do your homework in future
