Solve : Acer Aspire One, shuts down after about thirty-five seconds.? |
|
Answer» Title says it all; I have an Acer Aspire One AOA150 that shuts down after about thirty-five seconds. windows xp gets about half-way through booting, then it just shuts off. I have also tried booting a UBUNTU LIVE cd and going into bios setup, and either way it still shuts off, in my opinion ruling out windows as the culprit.Overheating would be my 1st GUESS...I was wondering about that, but it's cool to the touch. Could it still be overheating?Yes if the CPU heat sink isn't properly making contact with the CPU. The rest of the laptop would probably be cool to the touch.I OPENED it up, but it looks like it doesn't even have a spot to put a heatsink. There is a hole in the panel that seperates the keyboard and motherboard that the CPU pokes through, touching the keyboard. Also, if i try booting it without the keyboard/motherboard panel, it still shuts down, although it could be lasting a litte longer.Check air on the side panel ventilation if fan is running during the time its on going off . Try removing Network card and One RAM module while booting. If successfull, download HWMonitor and check the temperature. It's fixed. Thanks a bunch everyone. Whilst I'm not even sure exactly what fixed it, it did appear to be a ventilation issue. I removed the entire motherboard, finding more dust than in the whole rest of my house. I cleaned everything out and it seems to be staying on. Again, I thank everybody. Although nobody was spot on, you all came close.HWMonitor should also be USED to check machine temperature just in case...OK. As many times as it's tried to die on me, I suppose it can't hurt |
